A bazillion years ago, before Sharky's resturant was built, I would arrive at the pier late on Friday afternoons to catch bait and get ready for all night shark fishing with the Venice Shark Fishing Club.. At sunset, with giant hooks, huge #14 Penn reels and 7 foot broomstick think rods, we set out our baits with hopes of nailing a monster "JAWS" shark... Some nights there was lots of excitement with several big shark cought and many were blanks. We always had fun no matter what was landed... Think I fished and slept about 100 Friday nights on the Venice Pier. I made a lot of new friends and have many good memories .
